Job summary

Wisconsin Counties is seeking a Communications Dispatcher to handle emergency calls for police, fire, EMS, and other services. You will determine priorities, dispatch units, and relay critical information using CAD and radio systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of dispatch experience, TIME and CPR certification, and the ability to work days, nights, and weekends in a high-pressure environment. Training and duties emphasize accuracy and calm decision-making.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent required; further education considered.
• 1 year dispatch experience in police/fire/EMS preferred.
• TIME System certification and CPR certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency calls and determine nature and location of emergency; dispatch units accordingly.
• Transmit and receive messages via radios, 9-1-1 lines, and data terminals.
• Maintain contact with units on duty and monitor status and location of responders.
• Provide Basic Life Support instructions and scene safety guidance to callers until responders arrive.
• Record events accurately in the RMS and support trainee training as needed.
