Job summary

City of Chicago's Department of Animal Care & Control seeks a Dispatch Clerk to operate radio, computer, and telephone equipment to coordinate animal control assignments citywide. Two positions available with a starting salary of $57,000 per year, open to the public and current City employees under AFSCME bargaining units.

Under supervision, you will receive requests, prioritize emergencies, relay information, input and close out service requests, and track field units via a computer system.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience relaying information via radio, computer or telephone
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree or higher

Responsibilities

• Receives requests for animal control services via telephone, radio and computer
• Records and relays information to ensure timely service
• Prioritizes emergency requests and routes calls to staff
• Verifies nature of calls before dispatch
• Inputs and closes requests in the system
