Job summary

Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation seeks an Emergency Specialist 3 - Assistant Center Manager to oversee dispatch operations in Dillon, MT. You will coordinate mobilization of firefighting resources for incidents in the Central Montana Zone and beyond, while guiding staff and ensuring rapid initial attack actions.

The role requires 1–2 years of related experience with a high school diploma or equivalent, and proficiency with WildCAD/IRWIN/IRoc/InFORM, radios, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of related job experience plus a high school diploma or 2-year college/vocational training.
• Extensive knowledge of wildland dispatch software including WildCAD, IRWIN, IRoc, InFORM.
• Knowledge of multifrequency radio and phone operation, Microsoft Office Suite, and related DNRC/state/federal software systems.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch Center Coordinator: plan and supervise mobilization of resources for incidents within the Central Montana Zone and statewide or national requests.
• Provide logistical support by interpreting fire-related intelligence for dispatchers and incident commanders.
• Supervise dispatch staff, including permanent and seasonal personnel, to support Dillon Interagency Dispatch Center.
• Oversee Initial Attack activities and mobilization for Federal and State incidents.
