Job summary

WestCO Dispatch in Montrose, CO is seeking an Emergency Communications Specialist to operate in-office and provide critical dispatch support for police, fire, and EMS. You will handle calls, provide pre-arrival medical instructions, and manage multiple communication systems in a high-stress environment.

The role requires 18+ years of age, a high school diploma or GED, and a path to CJIS and EMS certifications within one year.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Background investigation required.
• Ability to complete CJIS/Dispatch training.
• EMS Dispatch certification within one year.
• Colorado Crime Information Center certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls and digital requests; dispatch units per policy.
• Provide pre-arrival medical instructions and guidance to callers.
• Operate multi-channel radio, 911 and text-to-911 systems, CAD, and paging systems.
• Read and interpret maps to locate areas and aid responders.
• Maintain logs and statistics of dispatch activities.
• Coordinate with other agencies and relay information to officers in the field.
