Job summary

Confluence Health's Emergency Department seeks an ED Technician to support registered nurses in patient transport, bedside assistance, vital signs, and basic care. You will help with wound care, specimen collection, EKGs, and point-of-care testing under RN supervision.

This role emphasizes safety, standard precautions, and compassion in a fast-paced ED. Requires WA CNA license, MA-P certification, CPR, and basic computer skills; training provided across both campuses.

Qualifications

• Current WA CNA License and MA-P certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (within 90 days of hire).
• Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.

Responsibilities

• Transports stable patients under the direction of nursing staff.
• Maintains competency and fulfills the role as a Bedside Assistant when needed.
• Hourly rounding or sooner on patients and documentation in EMR. Check on patients' needs, including turning, toileting, mouth swab. Make sure patients call light is within reach.
• Take routine vital signs as per standards and RN requests to include weight. Assist with monitor lead placement, pulse oximetry and oxygen cannula or mask under RN direction.
• Utilize bladder scanner to determine urine in bladder and communicate results to the RN.
• Assist in collection of specimens (blood, stool, urine).
• Completes EKGs and deliver to provider for review. Document in EMR.
• Perform Point of Care testing (Guaiac stool, urine dipstick, glucose fingerstick).
• Assist with and set up for procedures, such as simple pelvics, suturing, blood draws, LP testing.
