Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital is seeking an Emergency Dept Tech I to join the on-site ED team in Raleigh, NC. You will assist nurses with basic life support, patient transport, and communication with families in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include initiating life-saving measures, stabilizing patients, and performing duties such as EKGs and vital signs under policy. Prior experience preferred but not required; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Work requires graduation from an accredited high school or a GED.
• Successful completion of the NCA I training per NC standards.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Related experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic life support interventions under nurse direction.
• Initiates life-saving measures and stabilizes patients.
• Stabilizes and extricates injured patients from vehicles at ED entrance.
• Assists patients to and from vehicles and the ED.
• Acts as liaison with patient families and staff; communicates patient status.
• Transports patients from triage to treatment area per nurse request.
