Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital seeks an Emergency Department Technician I to support the ED team, performing initial life-saving measures under nurse direction and assisting with patient transport and communication. Responsibilities include vital signs, EKGs as directed, patient handling, and coordination with ED staff, with a focus on compassionate care and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NCA I training or EMT training required per NC rules.
• Current listing as an NCA I or EMT with no substantiated abuse findings.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Related experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial basic life support interventions under nurse direction.
• Initiate life-saving measures (airway, hemorrhage control, etc.).
• Stabilize and extricate injured patients from vehicles at ED entrance.
• Assist patients to and from vehicles and the ED.
• Maintain open communication with patient families and ED staff.
• Transport patients from triage to treatment area as directed by the nurse.
• Perform related duties as required.
• May include EKGs and vital signs per policy.
