Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, part of Duke Health, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician I to support nursing staff in providing critical care in a high-volume ED. You will assist with airway management, monitoring, and transporting patients under supervision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

The role emphasizes rapid response, teamwork, and adherence to ED policies, with opportunities to gain experience in trauma and emergency care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Successful completion of the NCA I training as defined by North Carolina Division of Facility Services.
• Current minimum listing as an NCA I with the Division of Facility Services or EMT certification.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial basic life support interventions under nurse supervision.
• Initiate life saving measures (airway, bleeding control, chest compressions).
• Stabilize and extricate injured patients from vehicles at the ED entrance.
• Assist patients to and from vehicles and the ED.
• Serve as liaison with patient families and ED staff, communicating condition changes.
