Sky Lakes is seeking an EMT-qualified professional for an on-site, part-time position in Oregon. The role involves direct patient care, vital signs, EKGs, and assisting physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department.

Ideal candidates have one year of acute care or pre-hospital EMT experience, English fluency, legible handwriting, and the ability to work well under stress while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• One year experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably emergency department or one year pre-hospital experience as an EMT.
• Ability to speak English and have legible handwriting, knowledge of spelling, grammar and basic arithmetic.
• Skill in dealing with the public and telephone courtesy.
• Skill in proper use of body mechanics.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as requested by the primary care nurse, including activities of daily living, e.g., ambulation, dressing, feeding, toiletry needs and reporting changes in patient status.
• Records accurate vital signs and assists nursing staff by gathering information related to patient care.
• Performs twelve-lead EKG tracings on patients per physician order.
• Assists with procedures and transports patients and supplies as directed by physicians and nurses.
• Prepares patients for dismissal and facilitates transportation out of the Emergency Department.
• Splints sprains/fractures under physician direction and maintains a safe environment.
