Job summary

UPMC Bedford is seeking a caring high school student to join the Emergency Department as a casual Patient & Family Concierge. This role supports patients, families and visitors, guiding them through the hospital and ensuring a positive first to last impression.

The Concierge participates in destination coordination, environmental, dietary, transportation, telehealth setup, and supply management, rotating day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• High school student status preferred and HS diploma or active enrollment required.
• Previous health care or customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient and visitor destination coordination and escort services.
• Provide environmental services including cleaning and restocking supplies.
• Assemble and serve meals per diet orders and safety standards.
• Transport patients and equipment between units safely and timely.
• Retrieve telehealth cart and set up in patient rooms.
• Manage supply room, inventory, and equipment distribution.
• Answer unit phones and respond to call lights as directed.
• Promote patient comfort and satisfaction while adhering to infection control.
