Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue, NY is seeking a Nurse Aide II for the Emergency Department. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, you will assist the nursing and medical staff by performing identified service and established procedures to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients.

You will maintain patient care areas in a clean and orderly condition, prepare equipment and supplies, and transport patients as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (AHA) and first aid training required.
• EMT certificate or nursing student status required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients and families.
• Ability to multitask and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Observes the patient and relays information and any changes to the appropriate nursing personnel.
• Observes the patient and reports any reaction or change in condition to the nurse in a timely manner.
• Assists the patient in activities of daily living (nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, toileting).
• Provides direct nursing care including vital signs, baths, catheter care and enema assistance as directed.
• Demonstrates turning and positioning to maintain skin integrity under RN supervision.
• Distributes nourishment, assists with feeding and documents intake.
• Manages patient flow into examination areas with initiative and accuracy.
• Responds to emergencies under RN direction, including CPR and patient movement as needed.
• Implements measures to minimize patient discomfort within 5–15 minutes of request.
