Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide II in the Emergency Department on the night shift (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) with alternate weekends. Under the supervision of the RN, you will assist nursing and medical staff to provide safe, comfortable patient care and transport as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• De-escalation training is preferred.
• EMT certificate or nursing student status preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Observe the patient and relay information and any changes to the appropriate nursing personnel.
• Observe the patient and reports any reaction or change in condition to the nurse in a timely manner.
• Assist the patient in activities of daily living – nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene and toileting.
• Provide direct nursing care including vital signs, baths, catheter care and enemas per policy.
• Assist with turning/positioning to maintain skin integrity and report alterations to the RN.
• Distribute nourishment and document patient intake.
• Maintain patient flow into examination areas and support timely care.
• Respond to emergencies as needed, perform CPR under RN direction.
• Ensure patient safety and proper identification and specimen handling as directed.
