Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of relevant inpatient caregiver experience or nursing student (preferred completion of Medical Surgical rotation).
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC

Responsibilities

• Performs routine bedside nursing activities including ambulating, moving and turning patients, assisting with bedpans or urinary devices, making beds and labeling belongings.
• Performs higher level patient care tasks as delegated by RN, including starting saline locks, simple wound care, vital signs and documentation.
• Reinforces patient teaching by explaining treatments and aftercare to patients and decision-makers.
• Applies sterile and non-sterile dressings, assists in catheterizations, enemas, glucometer and EKG functions.
• Gathers patient data from interviews and records; documents interventions and responses in medical records.
• Performs discharge function under direct supervision of RN and ensures proper documentation.
