Job summary

Mayo Clinic Phoenix seeks an ED Technician to support direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with orthopedic procedures, perform vital sign checks and triage tasks, and help with EKGs, wound care, and patient education.

You will contribute to maintaining ED supplies, assist with training and quality assurance, and communicate patient status to the healthcare team while applying orthopaedic devices when delegated.

Qualifications

• Vital signs assessment
• Patient education
• Communication with RN and team
• EKG 12-lead administration (as specified)
• Orthopedic device application knowledge
• Wound care assistance
• C-spine immobilization and bladder scanning awareness

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision
• Assist with orthopedic procedures as delegated by physicians and RN team lead
• Perform vital sign assessment and documentation; triage assessment and documentation
• Complete 12 EKGs
• Apply orthopedic devices including traction and OCL splints; educate patient on device use (crutch walking)
• Assist with wound care, ENT, orthopedic procedures, eye/ear irrigations
• Perform suture/staple removal and foley leg bag application
• Support c-spine immobilization and bladder scanning
• Maintain ED supplies and participate in orientation and QA activities
• Communicate patient status and delegated tasks to the team
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development relevant to age-specific needs
