Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a clinically oriented ED support fellow to expedite patient flow and assist in delivering high-quality care in a level I trauma center serving the Boston metropolitan area.

The role includes performing EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, specimen collection, and patient transport under the direction of ED nurses and physicians, with emphasis on teamwork and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or Technical training preferred in EMT or Paramedic Certificate.
• 1 required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• 1-3 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes and completes responsibilities delegated by nurses and physicians.
• Maintains a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Performs duties such as EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, crutch walking, activities of daily living.
• Assists providers in delivering care and help patients with physical and psychological limitations.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection and point-of-service lab testing.
• Communicates results and documents in the medical record.
• Transports stable cardiac telemetry patients to inpatient units as directed.
• Transfers patients between monitors and transports equipment.
• Maintains supply inventory for daily operations.
• Stocks supplies, linen, or office goods.
• Ensures used equipment is cleaned and ready for next patient.
