Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for the 3am-3pm shift. The role provides basic patient care, assists with daily activities, and monitors vital signs under RN supervision in a fast-paced ED.

Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms, duty-specific procedures, and ensuring infection control. The position requires HS diploma and relevant certifications, with competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA or completion of 1st semester of RN Program.
• EMT certification through Illinois Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Applies cardiac monitor in alignment with approved policies, procedures, and physician orders.
• Completes assigned tasks in alignment with infection control standards.
• Documents and reports care delivered to patients under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintains competency and skill in Breath Alcohol Testing and Drug Screen specimen collection processes.
• Obtains and maintains professional knowledge by orientation and unit-based training and ongoing competency activities.
• Promotes a safe environment by maintaining high fall risk precautions, skin risk precautions, and patient-specific precautions.
• Promotes patient comfort and mobility through ambulation, turning, and repositioning.
• Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients under RN supervision; assists with ADLs and conducts EKGs, finger-stick blood sugars, bladder scans, POC testing, splint application, and instrument setup/cleaning; supports central sterile prep.
• Supports relationship-based care by delivering compassionate, holistic care to patients, families, and coworkers.

Emergency Department Technicians provide basic care to patients and assists them in daily activities; providing comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring along with other patient care intervention in collaboration with a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned tasks in alignment with infection control standards.


• Documents and reports care delivered to patients under the direct supervision of an RN.


• Maintains competency and skill in Breath Alcohol Testing and Drug Screen specimen collection processes.


• Obtains and maintains professional knowledge by completing required knowledge and skills through orientation and competency activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.


• Promotes a safe environment by maintaining high fall risk precautions, skin risk precautions, and patient specific precautions.


• Promotes patient comfort and mobility through ambulation, turning, and repositioning.


• Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients under the supervision of the RN. Compensation

Estimated Compensation Range $19.61 - $30.40 Pay based on experience
