Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is hiring an Emergency Department Technician for the 3pm-3am shift. This full-time position provides essential patient care, monitors vital signs, and supports registered nurses in theEmergency Department.

Responsibilities include monitoring, documentation, blood glucose testing, and assisting with daily living activities, while ensuring infection control and patient safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• High School required; CPR/BLS certification preferred or within 90 days of hire.
• CNA or RN program first semester completion considered.
• EMT certification required by Illinois Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Applies cardiac monitor per policies, procedures, and physician orders.
• Documents and reports care delivered to patients under RN supervision.
• Maintains infection control standards and completes assigned tasks.
• Performs Breath Alcohol Testing, drug screens, EKGs, fingerstick glucose, and bladder scans.
• Assists with ambulation, turning, and repositioning to promote comfort and safety.
• Provides direct age-appropriate care under RN supervision and supports ADL activities.
• Assists with instrument setup, post-procedure cleaning, and prepares for central sterile.

Emergency Department Technician - 3pm-3am *FULL-TIME!

Emergency Department Technicians provide basic care to patients and assists them in daily activities; providing comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring along with other patient care intervention in collaboration with a registered nurse.

• Applies cardiac monitor in alignment with approved policies, procedures, and physician orders.
• Completes assigned tasks in alignment with infection control standards.
• Documents and reports care delivered to patients under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintains competency and skill in Breath Alcohol Testing and Drug Screen specimen collection processes.
• Obtains and maintains professional knowledge by completing required knowledge and skills through orientation and competency activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.
• Promotes a safe environment by maintaining high fall risk precautions, skin risk precautions, and patient specific precautions.
• Promotes patient comfort and mobility through ambulation, turning, and repositioning.
• Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients under the supervision of the RN.
• Assists with activities of daily living and performs EKG's, finger stick blood sugars, and bladder scans, POC testing, splint application, assists with instrument setup and cleaning post procedure and prepares for central sterile.
• Supports relationship based care by providing compassionate, holistic care to patients, family, and co-workers and promoting a safe, caring, and healing environment.

Compensation Estimated Compensation Range $19.61 - $30.40 Pay based on experience
