Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for the 3pm-3am shift. You will provide basic patient care, assist with daily activities, monitor vital signs, and support input to the RN.

Responsibilities include applying cardiac monitor, infection control, documenting care, assisting with EKGs, finger sticks, and other procedures, while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Requires High School diploma, BLS/CPR within 90 days, CNA or first semester RN, EMT certification (IDPH).

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• CNA or first semester RN program is required.
• Emergency Medical Technician certification (IL DPH) is required.

Responsibilities

• Applies cardiac monitor per policies, procedures and physician orders.
• Maintains infection control standards and completes tasks accordingly.
• Documents care delivered to patients under RN supervision.
• Promotes safety with fall, skin and patient-specific precautions.
• Provides age-appropriate direct care, assists with ADLs and performs EKGs, finger sticks and other point-of-care tests.
• Assists with instrument setup, cleaning, and prepares for central sterile.
• Delivers compassionate, holistic care to patients, families, and coworkers.

Job Description

Emergency Department Technicians provide basic care to patients and assists them in daily activities; providing comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring along with other patient care intervention in collaboration with a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Applies cardiac monitor in alignment with approved policies, procedures, and physician orders.
• Completes assigned tasks in alignment with infection control standards.
• Documents and reports care delivered to patients under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Maintains competency and skill in Breath Alcohol Testing and Drug Screen specimen collection processes.
• Obtains and maintains professional knowledge by completing required knowledge and skills through orientation and competency activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.
• Promotes a safe environment by maintaining high fall risk precautions, skin risk precautions, and patient specific precautions.
• Promotes patient comfort and mobility through ambulation, turning, and repositioning.
• Provides direct age-appropriate care to patients under the supervision of the RN. Assists with activities of daily living and performs EKG's, finger stick blood sugars, and bladder scans, POC testing, splint application, assists with instrument setup and cleaning post procedure and prepares for central sterile.
• Supports relationship based care by providing compassionate, holistic care to patients, family, and co-workers and promoting a safe, caring, and healing environment.

• $19.61 - $30.40 Pay based on experience
