Job summary

Yale New Haven Health in New London, CT, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to assist with care of patients of all ages under RN/MD supervision. Responsibilities include preparing rooms, stocking supplies, and delivering instruments to sterilization, while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Required education is a High School diploma or equivalent; EMT-B certification with 2 years' experience or 1 year ED Tech experience preferred; or enrollment in nursing program.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • EMT-B certification with 2 years' experience or 1 year ED Tech experience preferred; or enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
  • Two years recent Government Corpsmen experience; or 1 year ED Tech experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up trauma and treatment areas, including pleurovacs, IVs, and patient monitoring.
  • Document care provided and patient interactions in the medical chart.
  • Assist emergency physicians with suturing, dressings, and basic splinting.
  • Stock unit supplies and report defective equipment during shifts.
  • Transport patients to Med/Surg, OB, or telemetry units as needed.
  • Respond to patient calls and assist with routine care tasks.
  • Perform CPR and phlebotomy when directed after competency requirements.
