Job summary

Meritus Health Inc. is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to join our ED and Float Pool teams. You will support RNs and LPNs in direct patient care, promote safety, and help maintain a patient-centered environment in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include vital signs, monitoring, specimen collection, and documentation in the EMR, with rotating weekends and some holidays. A Nursing Assistant Program completion is required and Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to provide direct patient care and support services.
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and staff.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency care environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care and support, including hourly rounding and responding to patient needs.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and triage-related activities.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope: vital signs, EKGs, Foley catheter insertion/removal, glucose testing, saline lock, specimen collection, splinting.
• Assist with emergency and trauma procedures, including CPR support.
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR.
• Provide observation and support for patients requiring constant monitoring.
• Prepare treatment areas, stock supplies, and maintain a clean, organized environment.
• Assist with clerical tasks including supply management and phone paging.
