Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking an ED Technician to support patient care in our busy Emergency Department. You will assist with patient treatments, monitor vital signs, and help with resuscitation and safety procedures.

This role emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and compassionate patient interaction; required BLS within 6 months and preferred 1 year of patient care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
• One year of patient care experience, preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 months from date of hire, required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient treatments assigned by the RN and other health care team members.
• Receives direction and assignments from physicians and nurses and provides technical support to optimize patient care.
• Report on the condition of patient/client to the supervisor and staff.
• Coordinate and assist with care and patient flow by initiating collection of specimens or treatment.
• Utilize critical thinking to enhance patient flow and care quality.
• Assist with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs and monitor systems as directed.
• Assist with equipment, supplies, and unit safety checks.
