Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support patient care alongside Registered Nurses and the multidisciplinary team. You will obtain vital signs, weights, report 12-lead EKGs, perform glucose monitoring, and ensure room and environmental readiness.

Responsibilities include assisting in splinting or orthopedic device application, phlebotomy as delegated, and maintaining patient privacy and environmental safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED; CNA or related certification preferred.
• 1–2 years related job experience preferred.
• Able to read, write, and speak English; basic clerical and computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic patient care; prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient care unit and Nursing Department with duties as directed.
• Provide direct physical patient care following procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and assist with patient flow and room placement.
• Perform phlebotomy and glucose monitoring as delegated by RN; monitor vital signs.
• Assist in transport, ADLs, and basic patient care tasks as needed.
