Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking an ED Support Technician to provide clinical and clerical support in the Emergency Department. The role assists nursing and physician staff, coordinates communication, and ensures patient safety and accurate charting under supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma, 1 year of patient care in acute settings, and health care training such as EMT/CNA/MA certification or BLS. Night/shift work and additional duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced education in a health care field.
• Minimum one (1) year patient care experience in an acute care or pre-hospital setting.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, or required within 90 days of hire.
• EMT, CNA, MA Certification or equivalent at time of hire and not required to maintain thereafter.
• Phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed personnel in maintaining inventory and reports discrepancies.
• Schedules and coordinates ordered services.
• Assists in admissions, transfers, and discharges; arranges transportation as directed by clinical staff.
• Scans clinical information into chart after clinical staff has reviewed it.
• Coordinates the safekeeping of patient valuables including labeling with name of patient.
• Coordinates clinical information to appropriate people.
• Maintains physician roster with updates.
• Coordinates transports to lab and specimens handling as required.
• Requests medical records from other facilities as directed by clinical staff.
