Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a part-time Night Shift RN for the Emergency Department at RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick. This role emphasizes comprehensive patient assessments, timely interventions, and strong collaboration with physicians and the care team.

You will provide evidence-based nursing care, document in the EPIC EMR, educate patients and families, and participate in rounds and professional development opportunities to advance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing and BLS certification.
• 1+ year of Emergency Room or acute care RN experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing strongly preferred or to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• PALS, TNCC and ACLS certifications preferred or obtained within 6 months of employment.
• 2–3 years of ER/acute care experience preferred and comfort with EMR systems like EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes to intervene early.
• Administer medications and provide hands-on care grounded in clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers to support timely, well-coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately for next steps in care.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.
• Work in a collaborative team environment that emphasizes shared accountability.
• Pursue ongoing professional growth through education and clinical ladder opportunities.
