Job summary

UNC Health's Rex Emergency Department in Raleigh, NC is hiring an RN Clinical Nurse II to provide high‑quality nursing care in a fast-paced ED. The role reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and uses the nursing process to coordinate patient care in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include education, care evaluation, implementation of complex care, leadership, patient assessment, planning, and ongoing research.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) within seven years of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs of self; attend relevant education programs.
• Evaluation of care: participate in evaluating patient care with the inter-disciplinary team.
• Implementation: care for patients with complex needs; perform bedside point of care testing.
• Leadership: develop goals; promote professional growth; support unit goals.
• Patient assessment: identify priorities; anticipate discharge needs of patients and families.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family to update the plan of care.
• Research: discuss applicable studies and share ideas with staff.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) within seven years of employment

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
