Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department to provide emergent, high-acuity care for patients with potentially life-threatening conditions requiring rapid assessment, stabilization, and intervention.

Requires CT RN license and CPR; ACLS/PALS/ENA and NVCIT certifications are preferred or may be completed within orientation. A team-focused, fast-paced environment with strong clinical judgment awaits. Competitive benefits and shift rotation offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
• Experience in Emergency Nursing is preferred.
• Completion of basic arrhythmia course and /or challenge exam within duration of orientation.
• Current ACLS certification or completion within duration of orientation.
• Current PALS certification or completion within duration of orientation.
• Current ENA ESI Triage course or completion within duration of orientation.
• Current NVCIT certification or completion within duration of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department
• Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area
• Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
• Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
• Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients
