Job summary

UPMC is hiring a full-time Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to support UPMC Jameson. The role will work 36 hours per week on a night shift from 7:00pm to 7:30am, with varied days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2 years' healthcare experience or 1 year in a medical/billing/fiscal setting or 6 months in a UPMC Patient Access position preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and strong communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reconciliation and maintenance of the First Net Emergency Department Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
• Accurate registration into hospital ADT and/or clinical system during downtime with monitoring and reconciliation of every patient.
• Central resource for all ADT registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and coordinate third party reimbursement and benefits to support billing.
• Counsel patients regarding insurance coverage and expected financial liability.
• Collect and record patient payments (co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles) on the day of service.
• Provide a warm greeting for all patients and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA rules.
• Maintain open communication with clinical partners and adhere to policies and goals.
