Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a Casual Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to welcome patients, explain copayments, collect payments, and connect patients with financial advocacy resources. The role requires flexible availability, including weekends, and supports patient demographics and insurance updates with a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

Strong customer service skills.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Ability to educate patients on copayments and financial obligations.
Accurate registration into ADT and clinical systems.

Responsibilities

Reconcile and maintain First Net ED Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
Register patients into ADT and/or clinical system during downtime with monitoring and reconciliation.
Central resource for all ADT registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends and holidays.
Explain insurance eligibility, coordinate benefits to support billing processes.
Counsel patients regarding insurance coverage and expected financial liability; collect co-pays and deductibles.
Provide a warm greeting for all patients; promote UPMC values and culture of service excellence.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality in all interactions.
