Job summary

Swedish Hospital in Skokie, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department. This full-time night shift role (36 hours weekly) includes rotating weekends to support patient care tasks.

The PCT works under RN/LPN supervision to perform basic nursing tasks, monitor patients, assist with ADLs, and support the nursing team to ensure safe, compassionate care. CNA training and BLS are preferred and no prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the US.
• Completion of an accredited CNA training course preferred.
• Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
• Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and visitors; answer call lights and phones; perform hourly rounding.
• Assist in safe patient handling, ambulation and repositioning with appropriate equipment.
• Provide basic nursing care (ADLs) under RN/LPN supervision and follow safety policies.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers; orient patients to rooms.
• Document care activities, monitor vital signs, and perform routine procedures as directed.
• Remain with patients as a Care Companion/Sitter when required by the team.
• Support nursing staff with restocking, cleaning, and equipment/linen tasks.
