Job summary

CHRISTUS Health’s Emergency Department is seeking an Emergency Department Technician who supports RN staff with patient care, admissions, registrar duties, and monitor tech tasks. The role requires completing specified training programs and maintaining BLS certification, with duties spanning phlebotomy, venipuncture, EKGs, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

The 11-hour shifts from 11AM to 11PM are full-time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Completion of one of the listed educational programs or prior CHRISTUS Emergency Technician experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of CHRISTUS competencies.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharges.
• Observes patient condition and reports changes to RN.
• Escorts stable patients to other departments as required.
• Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies.
• Maintains stock items and room readiness.
• Performs venipuncture, splinting, dressings, and nonsterile dressing changes.
• Sets up for procedures and assists RN.
• Operates patient monitoring equipment and records rhythms and EKGs.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens under RN direction.
• Adapts care to patient needs and demographics.
• Performs clerical duties on the unit.
• Greet patients and document demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Demonstrates CHRISTUS Health CORE values.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
