Job summary

CHRISTUS Health Beaumont seeks an Emergency Department Technician to support ED operations, assist nursing staff, and maintain a safe patient environment. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, monitoring equipment, patient admissions, and documentation with a focus on quality care and customer service.

The role requires BLS and enrollment in an appropriate program or prior CHRISTUS experience, with a 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM schedule and full-time position in the ED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Basic EMT, Intermediate EMT, PT Care Tech, or military medic training required or CHRISTUS Emergency Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of CHRISTUS competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharges of patients.
• Observes patient's condition, recognizes changes, and reports findings to the RN.
• Escorts stable patients to other departments as required.
• Maintains clean, stocked, and safe patient environment.
• Sets up for ED procedures and assists the RN as directed.
• Operates patient monitoring equipment and records rhythm strips; performs 12-lead EKGs.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects laboratory specimens under RN direction.
• Adheres to CHRISTUS Health core values.
• Acts as receptionist for the unit and assists with maintaining records.
• Demonstrates customer service to patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
