Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center in City of Poughkeepsie, NY, seeks a CNA/EMT to join the Emergency Department. You will assist in patient care under the RN, take vitals, help with activities of daily living, collect specimens, and support a safe, efficient department.

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and completion of CN A training or current CNA/EMT credentials with approximately 6 months of experience. CPI training within one year is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLs Healthcare Certification is required.
• Initial employment requires CN A training and/or current CNA/EMT certification with 6 months experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in delivery of patient care as a nursing team member under RN supervision.
• Records vital signs and reports abnormalities promptly.
• Maintains infection control and safety practices at all times.
• Collects, labels, and delivers specimens per procedure.
• Assists with patient transport and activities of daily living.
• Initiates and discontinues cardiac/hemodynamic monitoring as directed.
• Obtains EKG tracing and submits to provider timely.
• Performs Point of Care testing and reports results promptly.
• Assists with fitting of crutches and splints under supervision.
• Reports requests, complaints and incidents to supervisors promptly.
• Maintains department cleanliness and stock of supplies.
• Demonstrates regular attendance and supports team harmony.
