Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department on the night shift. The incumbent will report to the ED Nurse Manager and oversee staffing, clinical practice, and patient care quality, ensuring safe, evidence-based delivery and compliance with standards.

The role requires a BSN, 3+ years in ED nursing with leadership experience, and active involvement in staff development, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in Emergency Services with at least one year in a leadership role.
• Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with peers, physicians, and staff to promote teamwork and high quality patient care.
• Participates in hospital committees and unit staff meetings; distributes minutes timely.
• Implements Quality and Performance Improvement plans and reports findings to leadership.
• Models leadership and promotes professionalism to develop staff competencies.
• Ensures staffing coverage and unit operations with ED Nurse Manager; oversees scheduling and clinical activities.
