Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of registration or comparable work experience required.
• Technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to the area.
• Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Other certification requirements as defined by policy.
• Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient to obtain and record demographic and financial information.
• Ensure insurance eligibility and perform pre-certification/authorization at time of service.
• Calculate and collect patient cost share at time of service.
• Provide bedside registration in the ED and other areas as needed, per EMTALA rules.
• Document registration notes and coordinate with payer/revenue cycle as required.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and hospital standards of conduct.
