Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking an Emergency Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our behavioral health team in New Jersey. You will conduct initial and follow-up clinical assessments, coordinate with interdisciplinary staff, and support involuntary and voluntary admissions as needed.

You will participate in family interventions, documentation, pre-certification processes, and ongoing quality and safety initiatives to ensure high‑quality crisis care in the emergency department.

Responsibilities

• Provide Emergency Crisis Intervention Services including initial and follow-up clinical and risk assessments for patients with behavioral health needs.
• Complete de-escalation interventions with patients independently and with an interdisciplinary team.
• Document initial crisis evaluations, risk assessments, safety plans and clinical reevaluations in compliance with department policies.
• Complete pre-certification requirements and insurance authorizations for appropriate level of care.
• Provide family intervention, collateral information, psychoeducation and support related to systems of care and aftercare planning.
• Collaborate with nursing, psychiatric providers, social work and other professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives and ensure timely completion of required documentation and reports.
• Support transfer to involuntary, voluntary or CCIS units as needed and assist with discharge planning.
