Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Leesburg, VA seeks an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line ER team where every second counts. You’ll handle cases from minor to critical, work with doctors, and deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care for pets and their families.

The role covers triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, with ongoing mentorship and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from AVMA accredited program strongly preferred.
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician in the state the VEG practice is located.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and experience with practice management software and EMR.
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to lend a hand.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
• Stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg; assist to lift up to 40 kg.
• Willing to work in a noisy environment with strong odors; nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
• Work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person like they matter; keep people and pets together through tests and treatments.
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments from triage to discharge.
• Manage meds, monitoring, and mastery—from IVs to blood transfusions.
• Communicate as a teammate and help shape care plans.
• Perform CPR and other emergency procedures as needed.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and placements.
• Administer anesthesia for patients as required.
• Utilize advanced techniques in your toolkit, including central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
