Job summary

Bexar County PA is seeking a Public Safety Operator to support the Sheriff’s Office at the Communications Center. You will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, route to appropriate dispatchers, and enter information into CAD/CIJS/RMS systems.

The role requires calm performance under pressure, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate with diverse groups. A GED or high school diploma is required, with licensing within a year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Typing 40 wpm with ≤7 errors; requires recent typing test.
• Able to stay calm in emergencies and communicate with diverse groups.
• Must pass psychological and physical exams including drug screening.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must obtain TCOLE Telecommunicator License within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and route to dispatchers.
• Determine severity based on information from caller.
• Enter call data into computer and prioritize service.
• Provide information on case numbers, arrival times, and dispatch details.
• Research law enforcement databases to verify information.
• Coordinate with service/utility agencies as directed.
• Assist training of new employees in call-taking procedures.
• Perform clerical duties and forward documents as required.
