Job summary

Rochester, City of (NH) seeks a skilled emergency communications dispatcher to receive, interpret, and prioritize calls for service via phone, radio, fax and in person. You will operate base radios, telephone consoles and related equipment to ensure rapid and accurate response to incidents.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and must remain calm under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; ability to attain NCIC S.P.O.T.s certification.
Knowledge of communications equipment and computer systems used by the department.
Ability to perform duties under emergency conditions and prolonged stress; maintain calm and provide accurate information.
Strong data entry and information retrieval skills for on-duty units and records.

Responsibilities

Receive, interpret, prioritize and process all calls for service.
Operate and maintain on-line communications equipment including multi-channel base radio, telephone console and related systems.
Perform data entry and information retrieval for on-duty units, IMC and other records.
Notify shift supervisor of important or unusual occurrences.
Monitor location and status of on-duty and on-call units.
Attend required training; train new employees as required.
Perform other duties as required.
