Job summary

The University of New Hampshire Police Department is seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Specialist to support our Durham, NH campus. You will make critical, rapid decisions to direct responders and maintain clear communication across police, fire, EMS, and campus services.

Ideal candidates will multitask under stress, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be familiar with computer systems and security policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of public safety communication center policies and CJIS security policy.
• Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls from victims, staff, students, and public; determine location, severity, and responder needs.
• Prepare and send emergency notifications campus-wide using appropriate applications.
• Query databases (NCIC, DMV, NLETS) to obtain information on vehicles, individuals, and warrants.
• Serve as main point-of-contact after-hours and on weekends for university inquiries.
