Job summary

The Riverside County Emergency Management Department (EMD) seeks an Emergency Services Coordinator to monitor, evaluate, develop and implement alert and warning systems, oversee emergency communications infrastructure, and coordinate outreach with stakeholders during disasters.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, one year in emergency management, strong public speaking and Microsoft Office skills, and FEMA certifications such as IS-247a, PER-304, G290-291, L0388, and L-402.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; preferred emergency management/public or business admin related field.
• One year in an emergency management environment with program coordination or planning experience.
• Proof of education must be uploaded with application; possession of California Driver's License required.
• FEMA certifications listed (IS-247a, PER-304, G290-291, L0388, L-402) are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, develop, and implement Alert and Warning systems and public alerts.
• Coordinate and maintain effective communication strategies with stakeholders during emergencies.
• Oversee emergency communications infrastructure and write emergency plans.
• Develop and deliver training programs for staff and the public; public education activities.
• Assist in emergency budgets and grants administration; provide information for reimbursements.
