Job summary

The Melbourne Police Department seeks a Communications Officer II to join the City’s public safety communications center. You will receive, prioritize, and relay emergency and non-emergency information, dispatch calls, monitor alarms, and maintain accurate records in accordance with procedures.

You will complete required training, pursue Florida health and public safety certifications, and support officers and the public with calm, precise communication across varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Dispatcher or telephone operator experience or progressively responsible work experience involving public contact and a fast-paced environment.
• Emergency dispatch experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Answering 911 and non-emergency calls and taking appropriate action.
• Process and dispatch telephone and radio communications.
• Monitor alarm and emergency systems and maintain accurate transmission documents.
