Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a School Police Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch units, and manage multiple CAD systems. You will screen calls, gather critical information, and coordinate responses with law enforcement and school personnel.

Strong communication, multitasking, and CJIS-compliant data handling are essential. Qualifications include a high school diploma, two years in public safety dispatch, and ability to obtain NCIC/CJIS certification

Qualifications

• Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma or higher.
• Minimum two years of experience as a public safety dispatcher handling 911 emergency calls, coordinating Police/Fire/EMS responses, managing priority dispatching in a high-volume PSAP or combined communications center.
• Licenses/Certificates: Able to obtain NCIC/CJIS certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Answers and screens incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.
• Evaluates calls by questioning callers to elicit information for location, severity, priority, and officer safety risks.
• Maintains contact with 30+ units by tracking, monitoring, and documenting movement/status in CAD.
• Documents receipt of all calls for service in CAD, determines appropriate response.
