Job summary

Georgetown University Police Department seeks Communications Specialists to answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch police and EMS, and monitor alarms. You will staff a public safety PSAP, assist the university community, and handle multi-tasking under pressure.

The role requires strong communication, a calm demeanor, and certification in APCO and FEMA Incident Command, with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Hilltop or Capitol Campus assignments may occur.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• US citizen or lawful resident for past 10 years.
• No felonies or crimes of moral turpitude or gross misconduct.
• Pass a written test, drug test, medical exam and background check.
• Must type at least 35 words per minute.
• Maintain APCO certifications and FEMA Incident Command knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Dispatch police and EMS units.
• Monitor alarm systems and CCTV security systems.
• Provide customer service at the university desk.
• May work shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
