Job summary

The City of Fairfield Police Department is seeking an Emergency Dispatcher to join our Communications Center. You will handle emergency and non‑emergency calls, relay critical information, and coordinate with field units, the community, and partner agencies.

The role requires one year of customer service experience and a high school diploma. Certification within one year of hire is required, and a thorough background check will be conducted. Night shift differential applies.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience or related work involving significant public contact.
• Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Must be able to obtain a P.O.S.T. Safety Dispatch Certificate and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and relay information to field units and other agencies.
• Serve as a liaison between community members, department personnel, and external partners.
• Maintain composure under high pressure while ensuring accurate information is conveyed.
