Job summary

The Sheriff’s Department of San Bernardino County is recruiting Experienced Communications Dispatchers to dispatch and maintain continuous communication with emergency units in the field. Positions are located at the Valley Control Center in Rialto and the Desert Control Center in Hesperia, serving as the primary 9-1-1 PSAP for their locations.

Qualifications

• Keyboarding speed 40 words per minute is required.
• One year of emergency dispatching experience with a law enforcement agency is required.
• California POST Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate is required.
• DOJ CLETS and DOJ DMV courses are required or preferred.
• 40-hour CAD training related to dispatch is expected.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch and maintain continuous communication with emergency units in the field.
• Serve as the primary dispatcher for PSAP operations in Rialto and Hesperia.
• Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime.
