Job summary

San Bernardino Unified School District seeks a School Police Communications professional to provide a wide variety of dispatch and clerical support on a rotating 12‑hour shift. The role requires coordinating with field personnel, processing calls, and ensuring accurate logging and reporting.

Minimum one year of public safety dispatch experience and a high school diploma are required. Certification in First Aid and CPR is expected, with district provisions for acquiring them if needed.

Qualifications

  • One year of public safety dispatch experience and high school graduation or the equivalent.
  • A current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or an acceptable equivalent.
  • A current American Red Cross CPR certificate which includes infant, children, and adults or an acceptable equivalent must be obtained at time of appointment and provided by the District during employment in a position in this class.

Responsibilities

  • Receives requests for district law enforcement services and dispatches units via radio.
  • Maintains contact with Police department personnel in the field and at schools.
  • Provides general phone reception for the Police department.
  • Runs warrant checks on subjects, vehicle registrations, and student enrollment status using teletype and computer.
  • Relays information and instructions to personnel in the field.
  • Maintains accurate log of service requests and actions taken.
  • Compiles statistical reports.
  • Enters data into computer.
  • Maintains files and provides general information to the public and allied agencies.
