Job summary

The City of Conroe is seeking a Communications Officer to operate the city’s police communication center. You will receive and transmit messages via radio, phone, and teletype, handle 911 calls, and dispatch services as required.

Position requires working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; candidates should have at least a high school diploma and may need to pass written exams and a typing test. CJIS/NCIC considerations and background checks may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience as a Communications Officer preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass written general knowledge and spelling exam.
• Must be able to type 40 wpm using department's typing skills evaluation program with 90% accuracy.
• 40-hour TCIC/NCIC certification preferred.
• This position is in an emergency operations environment and applicants are required to work shift-work hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate the communication center for the Conroe Police Department.
• Receive and transmit messages via radio, telephone and teletype.
• Receive 911 emergency calls and dispatch calls for service.
• Work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
