Qualifications

• General knowledge of operating the communications system.
• General knowledge of radio and teletype procedures.
• General knowledge of the geography of the County and location of important buildings.
• Ability to type at a reasonable rate of speed accurately.
• Ability to speak distinctly.
• Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
• Ability to deal courteously with the public under stressful conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches emergency equipment and personnel when and where needed.
• Receives, classifies, processes, and dispatches emergency service calls.
• Receives, records, and forwards non‑emergency service calls; maintains records and files.
• Operates radios, telephone, switchboard, alarm systems, and computer terminals; transmits messages by radio.
• Prepares and maintains public safety computer records and reports.
• Works varying shifts and schedules under supervision.
