Job summary

Owensboro Health Emergency Department is seeking staff to assist clinicians by greeting patients, collecting data, and performing assigned duties. You will help with vitals, ECGs, venipuncture, and patient transport.

Role requires teamwork, critical thinking and the ability to work in a high-stress environment. High school diploma preferred; BLS required within 90 days; 6 months direct patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in direct patient care.
• High school diploma, GED or higher preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required within 90 days of employment.
• ANDEMT or SRNA preferred; required in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets and identifies patients upon entrance to department.
• Provides direction and information to patients and guests.
• Assists with patient data collection for nurse review.
• Performs basic patient assessments as directed by clinicians.
• Assists with ECGs and submits results for interpretation.
• Identifies patient needs across physical, psychosocial, age- and culture-specific aspects.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Performs venipuncture and specimen collection per procedures.
• Keeps patient rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
• Assists with administrative duties and patient transport as needed.
• Supports staffing and flexibility across units.
