Gundersen Health System is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to support clinical staff and ensure smooth unit operations in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The role involves clerical tasks and help with patient admissions and transfers in a busy Emergency Service setting.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, coordinating calls, and assisting with paperwork and orders. The position offers part-time hours, 24 per week, with 12-hour day/night shifts and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong technical/computer skills and typing proficiency.
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a team.
• Medical terminology knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and answer incoming phone calls professionally.
• Admit and discharge patients in the Epic system.
• Ensure patients have required paperwork and manage transfer orders.
• Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Support clinical staff with administrative tasks.
• Handle internal and external calls and direct inquiries to nursing staff.
• Page providers for admissions and discharge signatures.
